The ADCONET uses the Access Control Station - ACS as frontend device to connect to all copper based systems. The ACS consists of a fully manageable switch, housed in a junction box. The standard ACS unit has 8 data ports. The ACS can be extented to 16 data ports.
The ACS components are mounted on a top hat rail. A local control bus connects all units. The main ACS unit contains 2 ports with 1 GBit uplinks each to connect to the adjacent ACS units or distribution switches. Dependent on the required bandwidth in each ACS, up to 10 ACS can be queued up. By extending the ACS with further control components, it can be expanded to handle critical and non-critical services.
